Racer Richard Knoop piloted his Lister Knoop/Mann Special up Pikes Peak in 10 minutes and 56 seconds winning his class and, coming in overall at 12th.
The car, long, low and sinisterly beautiful, was powered by an 800-horsepower Chevy V-8. The body that this engine was squeezed into was a 1958 Jaguar Lister. This climbing of Pikes Peak was part of this year’s storied Pikes Peak International Hill Climb that features more than 156 turns over a 12.42-mile road that climbs 4,720 feet. The runs average grade is 7%.
